LONI Resource Resources

The primary goal of our Resource is the continued development and refinement of a multidimensional modeling environment. To this end we have developed an environment that allows users access to a wide array of computational resources, a state-of-the-art visualization facility, the LONI Image Database, the LONI software archive, and the LONI research protocols. This vast collection of resources provides both national and international networks of collaborators with a diverse array of tools to create, analyze, visualize, and interact with models of the brain.

Compute Resources

Rapid advancements in imaging technology have provided researchers with the ability to produce very high-resolution, time-varying, multi-dimensional data sets of the human brain. The complexity of the new data, however, requires immense computing and storage capabilities. Institutions and scientists worldwide rely on the LONI Resource's computing resources to conduct research.

Storage

The laboratory uses a fault-tolerant storage area network (SAN) to accommodate current and projected storage requirements.

Network Services

The LONI intranet consists of 100baseT and Gigabit ethernet as well as an IEEE 802.11a/b/g-compliant wireless network.  Three 6500 enterprise-class Cisco Catalyst switches provide redundant routing and non-blocking packet switching.

LONI Image Data Archive

The LONI Image Data Archive was constructed to provide a simple, yet effective means of securely storing, searching and organizing neuroimaging data on the LONI storage network.

Visualization

The Scientific Visualization Core produces sophisticated scientific images and animations that illustrate the results of the algorithmic and analytic strategies employed in the core research areas and by our collaborators.

Education

The LONI Resource provides regular seminars, workshops and courses on advanced information technology. Building upon a mature and established Training Program in Neuroimaging, we have designed our workshops and courses to include training on the multidimensional modeling that is the focus of this Resource.

LONI Calendar

The LONI calendar has the up-to-the-minute schedule of events and presentations taking place in the LONI Lab.

Mantis

The LONIR has deployed a web-based system (Mantis) to facilitate the submission, organization and tracking of trouble tickets related to both systems and services.

LONI TWiki

The LONI Resource utilizes an enterprise groupware platform, Twiki, to facilitate collaboration and foster cross-pollination of ideas across multiple research groups. Twiki, based on the notion of "open editing," allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser.
